Dr Leila Battison is a full-time science communicator with a PhD in Earth Sciences from Oxford Univeristy, and an unshakeable love of the natural world. She dabbled in academia, completing a short stint in the exobiology institute at NASA, before realising she preferred communicating science to actually doing it.
Now, she is an award-winning freelance writer and producer, with clients from across the screen, audio, and printed matter industries. She has produced and directed for shows on BBC, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Curiosity Stream, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, as well as a range of digital media channels and platforms. She is writing a book, although it’s anyone’s guess when it might be finished. Find out more about her work on the Projects page.
She is a proud mother to a young son, and has taken advantage of the upheavals of motherhood to explore her own passions through long- and short-form video. Something Incredible and the Science Baby are the offspring of these matrescent solo projects.
Leila lives on the south coast of England and enjoys collecting rocks, books and new hobbies.
